STREETER
13 January 2000 John W. Streeter
INVALID E-MAIL ADDRESS, PLEASE UPDATE Streeter@MidUSA.Net
I am a descendant of Adams Streeter of Oxford, MA. He was living in Oxford, MA just prior to the Revolutionary War, first a Baptist Minister then a Universalist Preacher. He died on the road returning from preaching in Providence, RI. I believe the building that he once was pastor of is still standing and has a convenience store in the basement. He married a Thankful ______, and they had several children. I descend from his son, also named Adams Streeter, who may have been born in Oxford, MA or Douglas, MA, or the immediate vicinity? I have the vital records book. I am interested in the History of Oxford, whether it contains anything about this family, other Streeters, the Universalist Church in Oxford. Adams, sr. is sometimes referred to having been living in the "south gore" of Oxford. The building, which I believe to be the church is just south of the middle of the village on the west side of the main street.

AMIDON
14 Jan 2000, SGTaylor1@att.net, Susan Taylor
I'm looking for mother, spouse, and/or any VR for a Henry/3 AMIDON. The only info I have on him:
Father was Philip/2 AMIDON (1670-) of Rehoboth, MA.
Had a son, Henry/4, born in Oxford in 1727.
At this time do not know which of Philip's wives (md 1698 Mehittabel PERRIN or md 1700 Ithamar WARFIELD) was Henry/3's mother. Philip/2 was located in Rehoboth, MA but don't know if his son Henry/3 was born in Rehoboth or Oxford or if Philip/2 died in Rehoboth or Oxford. I suspect Henry/3 was born c1707 if this son was his first child. Thank you for any help.

MAGRATH/BISSELL
5-29-00, Sasmn@aol.com , Lynne Bissell
We have recently learned that Elizabeth A. (MAGRATH) BISSELL was a nurse in Oxford, Ma. She had four children, the two oldest were born in Worcester and the two youngest children were born in Oxford in 1911 and 1913. We would like to know if there were any schools of nursing in Oxford between about 1915 thru 1920 or 25, that Elizabeth may have attended. Was there a hospital or nursing home type facility where she might have worked? Could anyone give me a source for finding any of this information? If she was an RN how or who would we contact to find a record of this? We are really grasping at straws, because we have lost her after the birth of her last child. The three youngest children were in N.H and the oldest in Worcester by about 1915, but she was not with them. Any HELP that someone can give us would certainly be appreciated.

LEDUC
November 15, 2000; l.bouley@worldnet.att.net Linda Bouley
My great grandmother Marie/Mary LeDuc was brought to live with a family in Oxford after her mother died in Valleyfield, PQ around 1862. She was less than two years old at the time; and she stayed with this family until she was twelve, when the woman who was caring for her died. At that point (around 1872 her father, who had since remarried, brought her to live with him in Central Falls, RI. Marie was born 5/15/1860 in Marieville or Valleyfield, PQ. & her parents, I believe, were Elisabeth booth & Antoine LeDuc. Marie must have attended school in Oxford and still stayed in touch with this family later in life. My mother remembers bringing her to Oxford for a visit in the 1930s....we lived in Whitinsville, which was nearby & Grandma was visiting from Hartford, CT, where she finally settled with my great grandfather Cyrille Fournier. I realize with such scant information, this is a long shot; but I thought I'd try. My main missing link is to establish her birth mother's name & her foster mother in Oxford's name. Perhaps it was a relative...were there French-Canadians living in town at that time. I know there were many in Whitinsville. Please contact me, if any bells ring or someone knows where I might get information on Marie from school or church records.Peace, Linda

UPHAM
2/8/2001 PEGA127@aol.com
Hello. My grandmother (now deceased over 35 yrs) was from an Oxford family with a mystery. Her name was Erminia E. Upham. The mystery comes in with the Upham surname--her father was adopted. Of course that was years before probably any "official" record keeping was established. My Mom and I have always wondered what her fathers "birth" name was. WE have a guess, but would love to know for certain. Perhaps someone who had family living in those days might have information about the Upham family and their adoption? I believe her father's first name was "Pliny". Thank you for any assistance.

SPALDING/HUTCHINSON
March 21, 2001, jwarren@pacifier.com, Jennifer Taft Warren
Tom Wetherell, a Worcester Co. volunteer, was kind to search Daniel's History of Oxford for me. He found that my ancestors, Henry Curtis Spalding and Clarissa Hutchinson, were married in Oxford on 9 Nov 1845. The reference stated that Clarissa was not related to any of the other Hutchinsons in Oxford. The only reason that I can think of for Henry and Clarissa to be married in Oxford is because she had family there. Does anyone have information about the Hutchinsons in Oxford that might be of help to me? The 1850 CT census says that Clarissa was 24 (born about 1826) and that she was born either in CT or VT.
