Mendon is the second oldest town in Worcester County.  Originally settled in 1660 Mendon was then a part of Essex County. In 1671 it was listed as a part of Suffolk and then became a town of Worcester County in 1731.  The town was officially incorporated in 1667 and consisted of 64 square miles which included the present day towns of Milford, Bellingham, Hopedale, Uxbridge, Upton, Blackstone, Northbridge and Millville.
