66. Col. Seth BANNISTER (6)(2) was born on 7 Dec 1739 in Brookfield, Worcester, MA. (6) He died on 7 Nov 1819 in Brookfield, Worcester, MA. (6) Seth was prominent during the Revolutionary War where he had and excellent record both as an enlisted man and as an officer. In 1775, before the Lexington and Concord alarm, he served on the Brookfield committee to receive contributions for the Boston sufferers. He served as a corporal in Capt. Wrights company of minuteman who responded to the alarm of April 19, 1775. In 1777 he had served in the army 19 months; the highest average in Brookfield 3rd precinct. As captain, he commanded a company in the fourth Massachusetts Regiment under Col. Wm. Shepard at West Point in the New York campaign. He also served as adjutant in Col. Ebenezer Learned's Oxford Regiment and during the war rose to the rank of Colonel during the Shays Rebellion. The local militia company of volunteers from the town at large under the command of Col Jeduthen Baldwin as Captain and Col. Seth Banister and Major Nathan Goodale as Lieutenants was with General Benjamin Lincoln's force in January and February 1787.
