Short Time-Coroner Snow Said Heart Dilation Caused Her death.
Mrs. Flora E. Sprague, wife of Alvin J. Sprague, died suddenly at her rooms in the Law Mansion on South Main Street at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Her death evidently was the result of fright occasioned by the small fire which broke out on the roof of the Mansion at 2:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Sprague was at work in her rooms washing clothes when Fred F. Dyer, who was one of the first to see the fire, ran into the building and up the stairway to the roof. While going through the he called to Mrs. Augusta Ader, who livers on the second floor, that the roof was on fire. Mrs. Ader and Mrs. Sprague both had clothes drying in the attic and Mrs. Ader called to the later, telling her to get her clothes as the house was on fire. Mrs Sprague who weighed about 200 pounds, ran up the first flight of stairs and fell in a faint. Others in the building went to her assistance and she was carried into Mrs. Ader's rooms, where she soon
recovered conciousness. Dr. Johnson was called and he prescribed for her, but after he left, she again fainted and Dr. Hutchins was summoned. before the latter arrived she was dead. Coroner Snow was then called and after learning the facts of the case granted a certificate of death from acute dilation of the heart.
Mrs. Sprague, who was in her thirty sixth year, leaves her husband, one son, Raymond J. Sprague; a daughter, Mrs May Turner; Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson, and one brother, Edward Robinson, all of Batavia. She was a member of the Genesee Hive, L.O.T.M.
