FOURTH GENERATION

7. JOSEPH BANNISTER (3)(8) (9)(2) was born on 2 May 1675 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA. (9) He was a WHEELRIGHT. It is reported that they had 5 sons & 4 daughters, so there is one son missing. He recieved a grant of 40 acres of uplands in Brookfield which he traded with Henry Taylor in 1703 for another tract of 25 acres and a dwelling house. This lot and his house was situated about a mile east of the present village of South Brookfield. In 1714 he received a grant on the south side of the Quabog River where his descendants afterwards settled . He owned in all of his various grants about 200 acres of land. He gave Banister Common to the town of Brookfield on which his descendant Mr. William A. Banister of NY built a handsome Memorial Hall and given to the town for the use of Merrick Library.

He was married to SARAH UNKNOWN about 1701 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA.(2) SARAH UNKNOWN was born before 1686 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA. JOSEPH BANNISTER and SARAH UNKNOWN had the following children:
