134. Seth BANNISTER (29) was born on 3 Nov 1780 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.(1) He died on 13 Jan 1858 in Boylston, Worcester, MA.(1) (6)(25) He died of "Old Man's foot". He was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston, Worcester, MA.(6) In 1809 Seth inherited a large tract of land and a burgeoning mill commplex off Mill Road. Under his astute management, his business grew to include a grist mill , a saw mill, and a nailer's shop. He was soom regarded as a major businessman and landowner in Boylston. He held a captaincy in the local militia in 1820. His home stood at the corner of Sewall Street and Mill Road.

He was married to Mary (Polly) HASTINGS on 6 Apr 1808 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.(1) Mary (Polly) HASTINGS was born about 1786. (25) She died on 20 Jan 1831 in Boylston, Worcester, MA.(6) Seth BANNISTER and Mary (Polly) HASTINGS had the following children:

He was married to Sarah Eaton JOHNSON (daughter of Thomas JOHNSON and Sarah EATON) on 29 Sep 1836 in Worcester, Worcester, MA. (1) Sarah Eaton JOHNSON (14) was born on 6 Apr 1796 in Worcester, Worcester, MA. (6)(14) She died on 15 Dec 1851 in Boylston, Worcester, MA.(6) (25)(14) She died of Lung Fever. She was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston, Worcester, MA.(6) Nathan gave the family grist and saw mill to his son Seth in 1809. In 1813 he gave him three small lots at the bend in the Shrewsbury road where the Mill Road joined it. About this time Seth built his house on the third lot detailed in this deed in which he was still living when Wallings map of 1856 was published. The two Sycamore trees were planted about the time the house was built. This house stands at the corner of Sewall St. and the Mill Road and is now [1947] occupied by his great grandson Robert E. Banister. Seth bought other land from his father and other relatives. Seth's house was struck by lightning and burned in 185?.
